2024 in Rearview
A Banner Year Here at Kindred
In 2024, we built 36 gas Broncos, took our show on the road to Aspen, Monterey, and Jackson Hole, and almost doubled the size of our team. We also developed our EV Bronco and are on the verge of production, with our first delivery on-schedule for early 2025.
With the end of 2024 upon us, we’re taking one last moment to look in the rearview mirror before accelerating into the new year.
One Team. One Dream.
When the year began, we had 50 employees. As of December, we have grown to a whopping 98 employees. The biggest changes came in our production department, where we ramped up the General Assembly team to new levels, ensuring that the team can build Kindred vehicles with greater speed and efficiency, lowering wait times and getting more folks behind the wheel of their own Kindred Bronco.
Ramping Up Production
In our first full calendar year of production, as we added more skilled members to our team, we also continued to expand and improve operations of our assembly line. As a result, our team built 36 gas Broncos, incrementally increasing our rate of production over the course of the year.
We are currently gearing up to scale production further in 2025, including for our EV Bronco, which was developed completely in-house by our talented team of engineers.
Our EV Bronco
After months of developing and building our first two EV Bronco prototypes, we debuted our EV Bronco earlier this year during Monterey Car week. Since then, we’ve tested our prototypes, finalized design, and readied our production line to deliver our first builds early in 2025. The team spent months ensuring that they were building the best vintage EV Bronco on the market — painstakingly testing, revising, and revamping the design to get it dialed in, from the AWD powertrain and modern interior design to fast DC charging and an electric motor that puts out 402hp and 492 lb/ft of torque.
Events
To get the word out about Kindred, we hit the road hard in 2024, taking road trips to Aspen, Monterey, and Jackson Hole, teaming up with some of our friends for customer test drives, food and drink pop-ups, and vehicle showcases. The EV was officially launched at Monterey Car Week back in August, where we gave attendees a first look.
Hot off the Presses
Not only were car enthusiasts able to get a peek at our EV Bronco during Monterey Car Week, but the press got their fill too. We were featured in Car & Driver, Top Gear, and landed a huge story with GQ, among others.
Recently, our first-ever limited release – the Kindred Black ICE Edition Bronco – also made waves in the press with the likes of Cool Hunting, Uncrate, and Ford Authority.
Kindred HQ Upgrades
In addition to the madness surrounding the EV and gas Broncos in 2024, we were able to get some big things done at HQ, upgrading our Mare Island facility to better support our production and assembly as it ramps up in 2025 and beyond. In addition to optimizing our space to fit our growing team, we were able to carve and build out a second assembly area — GA2 — for production of our EV Bronco that will run parallel to GA1, which is responsible for producing our gas Broncos.
Our First Limited Release
We gave our Trail Edition Bronco a custom design to black it out to perfection — inside and out — and the result was “a masterclass in balancing old-school charm with modern-day luxury.” While Black ICE Edition — our first limited release — is sold out, never to be released again, it’s just the beginning of a series of limited edition models for us. (But you’ll have to stay tuned to see more).
The Road Ahead
Speaking of 2025, it’s going to be another huge year for us. In addition to further scaling production and beginning production and delivery of our first customer EV Broncos, we will also deliver our Black ICE Edition, dive into final development of our EV Bus, and start to work on a few more special projects that will be announced in due time.
